Hare said to Tortoise, “I’m so much bigger
and better than you.”
Tortoise said, “Bigger doesn’t always mean better.”
They both said, “Let’s have a race.”
Hare thought he was so much better than Tortoise that
he gave him a head start.
Hare ran past Tortoise.
Slow coach!
Hare had time to eat. Hare had time to play.
Hare had time to snooze ...
He fell asleep among the cabbages.
Tortoise slowly plodded past.
When Hare woke up, Tortoise had almost won!
Hare hopped fast, but he couldn’t catch up.
Everyone cheered as Tortoise won.
Slow and steady
wins the race!
